literary agent submissions

Is your submission ready to send?

Most manuscripts get rejected before an agent reads a single page. QueryCheck is trained on thousands of real query critiques and agent wishlists, so your pitch is shaped by what actually gets requests.

free diagnosis

Know before you send — for free.

Enter your manuscript details and get scored against thousands of real agent critiques — see what’s weak, what’s missing, and why it would be rejected.

61/100

Nearly ready

Two issues to address before querying agents.

hook
missingMissing: the antagonistic force. Agents need to understand what stands between your protagonist and their goal in the first two sentences.
plot summary
strongClear stakes, specific protagonist goal, and a compelling central dilemma. The conflict is well-defined without revealing the resolution.
comp titles
weakBoth comps are older than 5 years. Agents use comps to assess market fit today — choose titles published in the last 3 years.
vitals
strongGenre, word count, and series status are clearly stated. Word count is within the expected range for Adult Fantasy.

why trust the diagnosis

Built on real agent data, not generic AI guesswork.

Where the data comes from

Our scoring model is grounded in a curated set of real, publicly shared agent manuscript wishlists and query critique writeups — not a generic prompt. Every score and diagnosis category (hook, plot, comps, vitals) is checked against those patterns. Read how scoring works.

Built by a writer

QueryCheck is designed for writers, by a writer — built to be the tool the founder wished existed while learning to query agents.

Your manuscript stays yours

Your content is never sold, published, or used to train AI models. It’s sent only to our generation providers to produce your report, and stored securely with row-level access controls. Read the privacy policy.

Fair, one-time pricing

$19 per project, no subscription. If generation fails or something goes wrong with your order, email hello@querycheck.co and we’ll make it right.

what’s in your report

Know what agents will flag — before they do.

Every score and diagnosis is grounded in thousands of real agent critiques and wishlists — not generic AI guesswork, but what actually gets requests.

Query readiness score

A score out of 100 measuring hook clarity, plot structure, comp quality, and vitals — with a verdict on whether you’re ready to send and what to fix first.

Full submission package

Query letter (250–350 words), one-page synopsis, and comp title suggestions — generated from your manuscript details and written in the format agents expect.

Pitch variants

One-line pitch, two-sentence pitch, 100-word pitch, and a paste-ready author bio — built from the same data, ready for conference pitches, Twitter events, and query forms.

Pre-send checklist

A 13-point submission checklist covering agent research, package completeness, and submission mechanics — so you don’t waste your one shot on something avoidable.

Submission log

Track every agent you query: date sent, response status, notes. Your history stays with your project so you never double-query or lose track of where things stand.

PDF export

Export your complete package as a clean, print-ready PDF — query letter, synopsis, comp titles, and diagnosis — formatted for printing or emailing to agents.

Every $19 project generates a complete, paste-ready submission package. Here’s an example of what you get back.

query letter

Dear [Agent name], I’m seeking representation for THE SALT ARCHIVE, an adult fantasy complete at 98,000 words that will appeal to readers of R. F. Kuang’s Babel and Shannon Chakraborty’s The City of Brass.

When cartographer Mira Vane discovers that the empire’s maps are rewriting the coastline they claim to record, she has one tide cycle to prove the forgery before the archive that raised her is dissolved into the sea — and everyone who remembers the true shore with it.

To prove it, she must break into the vault she was raised to protect, trust a smuggler who has every reason to sell her out, and decide whether a truth that drowns a city is worth telling at all. I’m a member of the SFWA; THE SALT ARCHIVE is a standalone with series potential. Thank you for your time and consideration.

faq

Questions before you start.

Is my manuscript kept private?

Yes. Your manuscript is never sold, published, or shared with agents, publishers, or anyone else — and it’s never used to train AI models. It’s sent only to our generation providers (Anthropic and Voyage AI) to produce your report. See the privacy policy for details.

Who owns my manuscript and the generated content?

You do — fully. You retain ownership of your manuscript, query letter, synopsis, and everything else QueryCheck generates for you.

What’s your refund policy?

The $19 package is generated on demand, so purchases are generally non-refundable once delivered. If generation fails or something goes wrong with your order, email hello@querycheck.co and we’ll make it right.

What does “unlimited regeneration” mean?

Once you’ve unlocked a project, you can regenerate its full package — query letter, synopsis, comp titles, and pitch variants — as many times as you want at no extra cost, for example after updating your manuscript details or comp titles.

Should I edit the AI-generated query letter before sending it?

Yes. QueryCheck is a drafting aid, not a final copy — review, edit, and fact-check everything it generates, including comp titles and agent-specific details, before you submit.
